The Women’s Sports Foundation’s GoGirlGo! works across the country to improve the health of sedentary girls and to keep girls involved in physical activity. We get girls moving not through direct service, but by supporting programs and organizations that work with girls. GoGirlGo! identifies and weaves together quality resources within each community and provides comprehensive support through education, funding, public awareness and networking.
Our free, award-winning curriculum providing tools to get girls active has reached more than 900,000 girls and provided more than $4.6 million in funding to girl-serving organizations.
In 2000 the Women’s Sports Foundation’s Board of Trustees were discussing statistics that showed that one in three girls was physically active. Founder Billie Jean King raised the question, “What about those other two girls?” Find out what happened next.
Selected as the third community city for GoGirlGo!, the San Antonio community boasts a great tradition in both culture and food. However, the community has not been known to be a fit city. GoGirlGo! San Antonio hopes to help change this by encouraging parents to get their daughters and girls active and moving.
This program, designed for third- to eighth-graders, educates girls about health-risk behaviors and other issues such as body image, bullying, drugs and stress by featured characters and true-life stories from champion athletes like Julie Foudy, Sanya Richards and Diana Taurasi. GoGirlGo! Ambassador Team Awards Championed By Gatorade
How would your team like new uniforms, better equipment or more travel opportunities? We know that it’s a challenge to secure funding for girls’ sports, so the GoGirlGo! Ambassador Team Awards are back in action!
The Women's Sports Foundation and Gatorade are proud to announce the launch of the 2009 GoGirlGo! Ambassador Team Awards. Together, we will reward high school girls for taking the lead by inspiring other girls to participate in sports and physical activity.
Twenty girls’ teams that display this leadership in their schools and communities by performing a team project will be awarded a $2,500 grant for uniforms, travel, equipment and more, including a Gatorade Hydration Package. Teams will earn the grant by leading their own community service project that gets other girls involved in sports and physical activity.
As a coach or program leader you know the importance of leading an active lifestyle, so help your team, or a team you know, to earn a grant this year.
