Misty May and Kerri Walsh are currently the top-ranked beach volleyball team in the world. Together they have managed to accumulate 600 points and have earned almost double the amount of prize money than the Australian Team, currently in second place. May and Walsh had two Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) championship victories at the World Tour Madrid Open and at the FIVB World Tour Gstaad Open in June. They competed together in three tournaments in July, taking fourth place, second place and two first place wins at the Norway Open, France Grand Slam, Switzerland Open and Canada Open respectively. May and Walsh compete exclusively to represent the United States in international competitions on the official Olympic qualification tour, FIVB World Tour.
