Started skating at age six and entered her first competition at age nine. By 1991, she had earned a berth on the world team.
Most recently, she won the silver medal at the 1994 Olympic Games in Lillehammer and the gold medal at the 1993 U.S. National Championships. A year earlier, she placed second at Nationals and collected a bronze medal at the 1992 Olympic Games. Kerrigan was named the 1994 female Athlete of the Year by U.S. Figure Skating and the USOC.
